The Jazz Professor

a documentary short film by PHIL HESSLER / a WZRD production

In 1998, Grammy-nominated saxophone player Caleb Chapman opened The Soundhouse in the small town of American Fork, Utah. His jazz ensemble group Crescent Super Band—comprised of musicians ages 15-18—is regarded as one of the finest in the world, playing internationally and even headlining a performance at the famed Carnegie Hall. This is the story of how a young musician found his calling as an educator and revolutionized the world of music education for the next generation of artists.
