The Soundhouse’s award-winning Latin band, La Onda Caribeña returned to the stage for the first time since last February’s headlining performance at the Puerto Vallarta Jazz Festival. The band (directed by Caleb Chapman, Jaden Bueno, and Monique Reid) was the invited special guest of Adam Larson and Salt Lake’s Skyline High School Jazz Band and Percussion Ensemble for their winter concert. The evening’s performance featured sets by all three bands featuring pieces by Santana, Maynard Ferguson, Poncho Sanchez, and more! The night’s finale was directed by Adam Larson and featured Soundhouse founder, Caleb Chapman on lead vocals joined by both La Onda Caribeña and the Skyline Jazz Band, which capped the night with a rousing ovation from the enthusiastic audience!

Since the inception of the program in 1998, the Soundhouse Institute has worked closely with area schools to offer unique educational experiences for area musicians. This performance marks the first of a new collaborative initiative to present joint performances with school ensembles giving young musicians a chance to perform for - and with - each other as they share their passion of music. Future joint performances are also planned to include GRAMMY-caliber visiting celebrity artists arranged through the Soundhouse Artist Access Program.

If you would like more information about arranging a joint performance with a Utah school, please contact us at info@ccsoundhouse.com.
