Crescent Super Band and Little Big Band Recognized with Best of State Award 2021, Becoming the Most Awarded Utah Bands in History

Utah Best of State has recognized the Crescent Super Band as the 2021 Winner in the Professional Vocal/Instrumental Band category for the fifteenth consecutive year and the 2021 Winner in the Professional Instrumental Group category for the ninth consecutive year. The Little Big Band has also been recognized as the 2021 Winner in the Youth Instrumental Group category for the tenth consecutive year. Both bands are now the most awarded in the state of Utah with the Crescent Super Band winning 22 DownBeat® Awards, 28 Best of State® Awards, and 2 Best of State Statues, and the Little Big Band with a total of 10 DownBeat® Awards, 14 Best of State® Awards.

These awards highlight Soundhouse’s conviction that great music education cannot happen without passion, intelligence, and — above all — personal commitment, a fact demonstrated by a portfolio of programs and award-winning bands spanning two decades and over 5,000 musicians with virtually 100% receiving college scholarship offers.

“We are honored to be recognized once again alongside so many exceptional bands and companies for these prestigious awards,” said Caleb Chapman, Soundhouse founder and Chief Executive Producer. “We work hard to create a winning culture and deliver the highest quality music in the industry with a commitment to excellence both on stage and in the classroom.”

Although not under the direct umbrella of Soundhouse, we are proud to announce that both the Osmond Chapman Orchestra and Soundhouse Artistic Director Jenny Jordan were also recognized as the 2021 Winners in the Original Band category and Professional Individual Vocalist category, respectively.

The Best of State® Awards were created to recognize the people, organizations, and businesses that are achieving, innovating, and improving the quality of life in Utah. Judges review submitted material and online nominations, and assign three separate scores to each nominee, for a total of 100 possible points. Fifty percent of the points are for overall achievement and excellence in service, products, or performance. Another thirty percent is for innovation, creativity, and differentiation. The remaining twenty percent is for contributions that make Utah a better place to live. Each company is measured against the Best of State motto: “Excelling and Surpassing All Else.”
