About Caleb Chapman’s Crescent Super Band: Organized in 2001 under the direction of award-winning performer, author, and educator, Caleb Chapman, the Crescent Super Band has frequently been hailed as one of the best professional bands in the world to be comprised entirely of young musicians. With youthful energy and nearly unbelievable performance level, the band has performed their hip, intelligent big band arrangements for thousands. The band has also performed at major festivals around the globe including Germany, Cuba, England, China, Spain, The Netherlands, Italy, France, Switzerland, and more! Their crowning performance was a headlining debut at a packed Carnegie Hall in May of 2013. On multiple occasions since 2007 DownBeat Magazine has recognized the Crescent Super Band with their coveted “Downbeat Award” recognizing them as one of the top young big bands in the world. The band has also won 21 “Best of State” awards for Utah, including 14 consecutive years as Utah’s “Best Professional Band”. In 2016 they were featured at Wynton Marsalis’ prestigious “Essentially Ellington” festival at Jazz at Lincoln Center. The Crescent Super Band has caught the attention of many of today’s top artists as well. Since its inception, the band has performed with over two hundred guest artists including Grammy-winners David Sanborn, Futureman, Gordon Goodwin, Joe Lovano, Esperanza Spalding, Bob Mintzer, Nicholas Payton, Christian McBride, Eric Marienthal, Dave Weckl, Bob Mintzer, Ernie Watts, Peter Erskine, David Paich, Dave Samuels, and many others. And with frequent guest artists from groups like Maroon 5, Journey, The Killers, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Toto, Tower of Power, Journey, Neon Trees, AC/DC, the Blues Brothers, and the Saturday Night Live Band, they obviously have fans in the industry, as well. The runtime of the show is approximate. Show length and content is at the discretion of the artist.
