Philosophy & Approach

Why we exist:

The Soundhouse makes learning music exciting by empowering musicians to embrace the music that matters to them. This helps them discover and deepen their life skills by living it with passion for and through music.

Path to Excellence

The Soundhouse delivers a contemporary music training program that develops critical life skills through performing, recording, touring, and mentoring from top-tier musicians and educators. We help musicians realize their full potential on and off the stage by building creativity, confidence, leadership and collaboration skills through our self-managed, professional-level, performance-based program. While we believe a strong music education is beneficial in all facets of life, it is not the most important skill we teach at the Soundhouse. Musicians who participate in the program graduate with a full toolbox of skills that virtually guarantee their success in whatever career path they choose.

Rehearse with the Best

Soundhouse members rehearse with other like-minded, serious musicians on a weekly basis. Bands are led by top-tier producers with years of real world experience. And our performance centers are stocked with pro gear, so students spend more time playing and less time setting up and tearing down gear.

Performing & Touring

Soundhouse musicians perform often and in a variety of settings, from club stages to world-famous concert halls such as Carnegie Hall and the Apollo Theater. Past trips have included every major US city as well as international destinations Switzerland, Cuba, Italy, France, Sweden, Canada, Mexico, England, The Netherlands, and more!

Soundhouse bands capture their performances in the recording studio at least once per year. Several full-length albums have been released, received radio play, and charted nationally.

Celebrity musicians from a variety of contemporary styles frequent Soundhouse locations throughout the year to perform as guest artists, participate in festivals, and present clinics. Past guests have included members of Maroon 5, Toto, the Dave Matthews Band, Genesis, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Tower of Power, Journey, the Saturday Night Live band, AC/DC, and others. GRAMMY-winning jazz artists including Victor Wooten, Gordon Goodwin, Dave Weckl, Joe Lovano, Bob Mintzer, Peter Erskine, Esperanza Spalding, Ernie Watts, Eric Marienthal, Jeff Coffin, Branford Marsalis, and Randy Brecker also make regular appearances.
