Utah music program wins 13 DownBeat awards

Salt Lake City-based after-school music program Caleb Chapman’s Soundhouse won 13 DownBeat Student Music Awards this year, it was announced recently. The awards recognize “outstanding performances by graduate and undergraduate soloists, ensembles, composers and engineers,” according to last week’s release. Read more here.

Utah music studio gives young musicians authentic band experience

Last weekend marked the fourth annual “Pop Goes the Music Festival,” during which junior high and high school-level student ensembles from Caleb Chapman’s Soundhouse performed alongside experienced guest artists including drummer Andrew Tolman of The Moth and the Flame and formerly of Imagine Dragons, soul singer and songwriter Chris Pierce, and keyboardist Mikel Paris of O.A.R. Pop Goes the Music Festival

Utah’s Pop Goes The Music Festival was held March 18, at Velour in Provo. Featured guests this year included Ndugu Chancler (drummer on Michaal Jackson’s “Bilie Jean), Rashawn Ross (Dave Matthews Band), Robbie Connolly (Fictionist), Branden Campbell (Neon Trees)! Soundhouse bands featured include Kingston Winter, Lo-Fi Riot, Vicious Beat, Game of Drones, and Jukebox Antihero.

Peaks Jazz Festival 2016

The Annual Peaks Jazz Festival was held February 26-27 at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center. Guest artists included Jeff Coffin, Roy “Futureman” Wooten, Per Danielsson, Chris Pierce, Jamie Glaser, and Kris Johnson. The Peaks Jazz Festival was also be held at our Denver location featuring appearances by Will Kennedy and Tom “Bones” Malone,  at the Kent Denver School in Denver, CO.
