Evan Wharton is a producer, educator, arranger/composer, and multi-instrumentalist located in Salt Lake City. At the age of 22, his bands have already garnered 9 DownBeat Awards since he became a Senior Producer at the Soundhouse in 2011. He has performed at many of the premier jazz festivals across the country along with several prestigious international festivals. In May of 2013, he helped debut several Soundhouse bands at their packed performance at New York’s Carnegie Hall.
As an active trombonist and bassist he has played with members of legendary bands such as Maroon 5, Dave Matthews Band, Neon Trees, Tower of Power, the Pretty Reckless, and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy in addition to numerous GRAMMY winning jazz artists including Randy Brecker, David Sanborn, Poncho Sanchez, Gordon Goodwin, Peter Erskine, Dave Weckl, and Jeff Coffin. Many of Evan’s arrangements are used by the Soundhouse bands and he is continually adding new material to the program’s catalogue. Evan is currently producing 8 of the bands at the Soundhouse’s Salt Lake performance center.
