Kim Dawson was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to a musical family. She grew up singing in church alongside her parents, which inspired her to begin studying the violin and piano at a very young age. She went on to study at Texas Christian University and graduate from the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance. Kim has performed with Grammy Award winners, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, and was a competitor on NBC’s the Sing-Off in 2011. She shares her love of music every time she performs, but feels there’s nothing as satisfying as being able to help her students with their own musical journeys.
Kim has held positions teaching at Kent Denver School and at the National Theater Conservatory, and her private students range in age from 7 to 57 and have aspirations in everything from gospel to rock to classical music. Her students have aspirations in everything from gospel and rock to soul and classical music. Kim believes anyone can learn to sing, and strives to help everyone find their own sound and flourish with their individual and unique voices.
